Introduction

Sojourners’ Alliance is an organization that works hard toward a vision of
dignity and respect for all people, confronting the barriers that lead to hunger, homelessness, and poverty through direct intervention with those in need by providing a safe and comfortable living environment while receiving intensive case management. Founded in 1991 as a YWCA, and expanded to include men by a decisions of the Board of Directors in December of 1995. Sojourners’ Alliance operates as a transitional housing facility for homeless men, women, and families, as well as permanent housing for homeless individuals and families with a diagnosed disability. Programs include long-term housing, supplemental food assistance, case management, counseling services, and referrals to other area agencies, allowing clients an opportunity to become self-sufficient and get back on their feet.homelessness, and poverty through direct intervention with those in need by providing a safe and comfortable living environment while receiving intensive case management.

Needs

Sojourners’ Alliance needs a website design that updates its brand palette, is responsive, and serves as a community resource for those in need as well as those looking to contribute to the organization. Furthermore, Sojourners’ Alliance needs a website that has login capabilities for members, and volunteers at a minimum.

Research

Our UX/Design research report consisted of landscape analysis to compare and contrast
other non-profit organizations that help in the same way, a survey created for members
involved with Sojourner’s Alliance, and third party/industry research.

Since one of our big pushes was to increase the traffic to the website and cross platform
engagement, our industry research is focused on social media presence, including identifying
target audience, platforms used, reasons for posting, scheduling, timing, and ratios. We
identified our target audience as millennials (born 1981-1996) and gen-x (born 1965-1980),
with a sweet spot being those individuals age 30-49 (born 1970-1989).

Solution

Our team will provide Sojourners’ Alliance with a site redesign that is responsive across platforms, is easy to navigate, and conveys a sense of professionalism to potential donors and volunteers, as well as community members who may be in need of services.
Our design will integrate the current logo while exploring an updated color palette. It will also include login access for staff, members, and volunteers. We will work to present existing content in a new and fresh manner, as well as to increase the traffic to the website by linking social media stories like those shared via Souls of Sojourners to a blog on the website itself, thus driving traffic between both platforms.
